Video really works
I’ve been a technical educator for much of my career, needing to explain the networking technology my company provided as a solution for my customers/clients. Video, along with good software tools - and YouTube - became invaluable to me in this role. Explaining the technology around network troubleshooting, application performance, test & measurement, and cybersecurity tools and best practices to a broad range of customers can be a daunting task, and I found that using video helped immensely.
Speed and Reusability
There are many benefits, but the most significant for me was the ability to quickly provide help to a customer AND to be able to reuse it again and again. When similar questions about how to do something came up, I was able to send a link to a video I made. For the customer this was often the best solution, since there were often multiple people involved. We all know that scheduling group meetings can be challenging these days. If a video helps, it can be reused again and again - and that carries with it serious marketing and PR value!
good vs bad; it is worth the effort
I enjoy helping clients make better “explainer” videos. These really do work. There are so many out there. Some are good, some are terrible, but all were made with good intentions. I am always grateful to find that someone who has taken the time to make a video that helps me solve a problem. Of course, sometimes there is a perfectly good reason for a quick and dirty video that solves an immediate problem. However, if it is important to you, has your name (or company name) on it, or you have a user community need - isn’t it worth making a higher quality video? Maybe Hollywood quality isn’t needed, but a little polish can improve your message and make you stand out!
Maybe I can help
Please look around the site. If you wish you had some good explainer videos, I can help. If you have some content you have already recorded, and just need some help and polish, I can help with that as well. Very often I get asked to do things like; create Intro/Outro ‘bumpers’, add animation (zooming in or out, highlighting areas of the screen, adding some motion backgrounds, blurring personal data, enhancing an existing audio track, re-recording a narration voiceover, etc. Dramatic improvements can often be done in just a few hours.
