I am happy to announce that I have published my second short story collection, Future Limits, Volume Two.

Like it predecessor, Volume 2 is a collection of short stories based on ideas I’ve had in my mind for a while. As a long time reader of science fiction, I love the genre because of its unique ability serve as a laboratory for testing (hopefully) creative ideas. Anything is possible if you can create it well enough to be believable. In short, I chose to write science fiction because that is what I love to read.

About the stories, well, there are androids, aliens, AI, horror, murder, and blueberry scones. And delicious coffee. And souls. And terrorism. You’ll have to get the books to find out more! I am already working on Volume Three, by the way. So, more to come - but I may take a break for a little while.

If you read either one, please let me know what you think. I can be reached at bill@billnaylor.com - or use the feedback button below.

FUTURE LIMITS, VOLUME ONE

This book contains seven short stories - stories in which I like to ask questions.

In EVA, for example, I ask ‘what if’ people are just creeped out by humaoid androids that are perfectly human in appearance, but somehow lack humanity?

Science fiction endessly speculates about first contact scenarios. In BEFORE THEN, THEN NOW, NOT LATER, I explore what might happen where we meet aliens that seem to be very much like us. At first. What happens if we take too much for granted?

THERE’S AN AP FOR THAT is a buddy adventure story where a human explorer and an artificial person become best friends. Skip is an AP, but has a mysterious past. Then tragedy strikes.

Cobb is intersted in tech as well as the past. In my story FIREWALL, his interest in technology and history takes him down a path where he just happens to find a blue flashing light that tells him that all is not as it seems. How we see our own reality may well be shaped by how we view the past.

Geoffery Dallas has a cat named Jonesy. Jonesy stares and hisses at things. Cats are just weird. But what if they see something that we don’t? Find out in JONESY SEES THEM.

In DUBIOUS INTEGRITY, we meet Ronald J Bluster, an egocentric blowhard that happens to become a U.S. President. His moral and ethical failings are legendary, but somehow he retains power. He commisions an AI to be made in his image. What happens if it works all too well?

A Professor enjoys her work and her students. She leads them in a detailed classroom discussion in a very complex subject, coaxing their young minds along the way. They get to eventually see the big picture in PLANETARY ENGINEERING 101.
